Building lean muscle is not easy considering that your body thinks it has enough muscle as it is. You have to force your body into believing that it needs new muscles. Only then will it grow bigger muscles. So how do you ensure that you build lean muscle and not fat? One thing you should know is that you won't be building lean muscle if you do 10 repetitions of lifting a 20 pound weights for weeks on end. Your body does not get challenged by that. To build new muscle, you will need to lift bigger and heavier weights. Here are tips to help you out. Have a look!

  • Try to shake up your workout routine every once in a while. If you do 8 repetitions all the time, try doing lesser or more of the same exercise. Don't stick to a particular number of repetitions for too long a time. As time goes on and you achieve the body you want, your repetitions and weights should become lower. You don't want to overload your muscles in the long run.
  • Use different rep speed when you are exercising. This will help in building lean muscle. Using faster lifting speeds during your weight training will help you mix up your routine, which again, will be challenging for your body.
  • The worst thing that can happen to you is if you get bored with your workouts. It is important that you change your routine every 8 to 10 weeks to keep yourself from getting bored and also to allow your body to not get too used to the exercises. Try out new exercises once in a while.
