The Ultimate Muscle Building Food - And Why I Won't Touch It

If you're looking for a great muscle-building snack, cottage cheese just might be one of the single best options.

It's portable, relatively cheap and packed full of both whey and casein protein.

Which is great because whey protein is utilized by your body quickly... while casein is a slower digesting protein. Combining both gives you the fast-acting protein your muscles need on the spot and the slow-acting protein that your muscles can use over time.

Just 1 cup of cottage cheese gives you over 30 grams of this whey/casein protein mix.

But despite all the benefits of cottage cheese... I won't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Why?

Because it makes me sick. I don't know what it is - I think it's the texture of the stuff. But every time I put a spoonful in my mouth I immediately gag and start dry heaving. Not a pretty sight.

But still, because it's such a perfect muscle-building food, I'll try it every few years just to see if maybe my taste buds have changed.

In fact, I just tried it again a few minutes ago. Nope, still hate it. Hence this article.

So why am I telling you this?

Here's why: Cottage cheese might be the best muscle-building food in the world FOR YOU. But for me, it's the worst food in the world. I won't eat it so it obviously won't do me any good.

Clearly, it's important to FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. We can't all eat cottage cheese. However, I'll eat raw eggs until the cows (chickens?) come home. Because raw eggs are a great source of protein and fat and I can knock 'em back quickly. It might sound gross to you but that's what works for ME.

I'd say a big part of the reason why it's so hard to get in great shape is because on some level you MUST find what works for you.
