Healthy Eating Facts Are A Necessity In Today's Society
Everywhere you go you hear / see advertisements for the latest diet pill that will help you curb your appetite, or that new diet that will help you trim off 30 pounds in a month.
Unfortunately - and especially with the rise in obesity - people fall for these gimmicks on a daily basis and it is an endless cycle. Learning a few healthy eating facts now can change the way you hear these advertisements, will change the way you feel about yourself, and will help to bring down the rising number of obese adults and children worldwide; it all just takes a little education, patience, and time.
The very first thing you need to do is change your mindset and forget everything you have learned and lived up to this day. Losing weight and being healthy has nothing to do with eating 500 calories a day or even running 30 miles every day. Instead, it has to do with getting the proper amount of exercise for your body type and eating a healthy diet that consists of 2000 calories (give or take a couple hundred depending on your body type, workout plan, and weight loss goals).
Now that you have opened your mind, I want to share with you how easy it is to lose weight, or even maintain a healthy body weight. You know those foods in the produce section, the fruits and vegetables; those are the biggest part of eating healthy or eating right. Add some lean meats, low-fat dairy products like yogurt, nuts, and whole grains, and you are golden. Focus on eating a small portion of each of these for every meal. Or an even better idea is to focus on yogurts and nuts for snacks, and the rest at meals.
Snacks are another valid point - eating 5-6 times a day rather than three. Your body functions more efficiently if you eat smaller meals spread out through the day. You have to be careful here, if you are not used to this type of eating, it is easy to eat too many calories.
Therefore, at first, you will have to focus on counting your calories. But do not get frustrated, it will become habit and natural in no time at all. So, six meals a day at - let's just say - 2000 calories a day comes down to approximately 333 calories for meal. Balance that out throughout the day and you are on your way to a healthier lifestyle.
You also need to take into consideration your activity level. You cannot eat like this and sit around and expect to lose weight and be healthy. Yes, you are healthier because you are eating better, but your body also needs a certain amount of exercise every day.
Remember, the more intense your workout, the more protein and calories you will need. So, focus on a good workout routine and healthy eating habits and you will soon notice a whole new you.
